The National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of NEPAD Nigeria, Princess Gloria Akobundu has said that NEPAD  Nigeria is committed to the development of Africa and Nigeria in particular through collaboration and support from relevant bodies.
Princess Akobundu stated this recently during a courtesy call on the Chief of Army staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
NEPAD Nigeria NC/CEO recognised the victories and achievements recorded by the Army in its operations against insurgency and militancy activities and further  said that NEPAD Nigeria could support in carrying out activities such as catering for internally displaced persons (IDPs) through empowering women/youth, care for families of Nigeria’s fallen heroes and advocate for their children’s education.
Princess Akobundu in her speech highlighted the role of NEPAD Nigeira  as set up by African Leaders, to include the development of the African continent and the negotiation of other developmental benefits from other parts of the world. Speaking further, Princess Akobundu stated that NEPAD at inception had a vision to bring about regional integration among member states, reduce poverty in the region, develop infrastructure, improve maternal and infant health, improve governance and generally make life better for Africans.  In view of this, she emphasised the need for the Nigerian Army and NEPAD to collaborate to ensure that victims of the activities of insurgency and militancy in the country are well catered for.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai in his response appreciated NEPAD Nigeria’s CEO on the courtesy call and stated that she will make great success considering her plans for NEPAD. The Chief of Army Staff stated that the Nigerian Army is a versatile Institution known mainly to provide security by protecting the territory and defending the Country. He stated that the peace currently experienced in the North East was due to the change agenda of this present administration.  He also shared the position of the NEPAD CEO that NEPAD Nigeria has a huge responsibility in ensuring that the Internally displaced Persons are catered for, rehabilitated and reabsorbed into the system by getting the United (UN) and other international organizations to come and assist.
