What is the Project all about?

NEPAD Africa Trade Fair of Indigenous Products and Services is designed to serve as a veritable platform to fast tract the attainment of NEPAD economic development agenda for Africa and equally lend credence to the on-going advocacy for African countries to trade more with each other as a prerequisite to boosting local economy, harnessing abundant human resource potentials and achieving all inclusive growth and wealth creation in Africa.

The NEPAD African Trade Fair of Indigenous Products and Services is an initiative of African Trade Center implemented under the auspices and collaboration of NEPAD Nigeria with the patronage and full endorsement of the Federal Government of Nigeria, NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and attracting a multi-sectoral partnership involving relevant stakeholders across Africa. The Trade Fair holds annually and is rotational among African countries on voluntary basis.

The NEPAD African Trade Fair is a demonstration of NEPAD’s commitment to building public private partnership as prerequisite for sustainable economic inclusive growth and shared prosperity in Africa.

Aims and Objectives

Aims and Objectives of the NEPAD Trade Fair includes:

  1. Accelerate intra-African trade and investment through regional integration and cooperation.
  2. Break all barriers to trade and free movement of persons and goods in Africa.
  3. Improve trade between Africa and other countries of the world.
  4. Provide veritable platform for individual African countries to showcase indigenous products and market their investment potentials.
  5. Provide the opportunity for Africa to forge a common trade front to break the age long marginalization of African indigenous products and services.
  6. Create export opportunities for African products and enhancing their competitiveness in the international market.
  7. Promote local content development and local adaptation and utilization of African indigenous products and services.
  8. Create an indispensible one stop market for made in Africa goods and services.
  9. Promote good neighbourliness, fostering peaceful co-existence and deepen bilateral relationships among African countries.

  11. Provide a unique meeting point for networking and exchange of ideas between investors, financiers, manufacturers, exporters and entrepreneurs through the Business and Investment Forum (BIF).
  12. Acknowledge and reward excellence through the African Achievement Award (AAA) process

What is happening in the Programme?

The NEPAD Africa Trade Fair programme consist of a Product Exhibition, Business and Investment Forum on Africa and African Achievement Awards (AAA) process instituted to recognize excellent contributions to Africa’s socio-economic development in both private and public sectors of the economy. Participation is open to all African countries.

What Progress has been made so far?

  • The 2015 Edition of the Trade Fair with the theme “Harnessing Potentials for Regional Economic Development” will hold in Nigeria in October 2015.
